Mrs. Theis was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. She is Survived by two sons, Leon Theis of Morris, IL. and Thomas (Betty) Theis of Denver, CO. one daughter, Lynn Theis of Morris; one brother, Nick Modaff of Naperville; three sisters, Caroline Gaworski of Aurora, Lillian Landorf and Ceal Kuhn both of Naperville; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Leon Theis, one son, Robert J. Theis; two brothers, Bernard Modaff and one brother in infancy; and her parents Peter and Dora (Frisch) Modaff. Funeral services will be announced later by the Dieterle Memorial Home, where friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 1998. 18432 | Arnold E. Lies, 85, of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2015. He spent his final day surrounded by his family. Arnie was a life-long Auroran, who, along with his father Arnold and brother John, ran the Arnold Lies Company, a successful local general contracting firm. Among the area buildings they constructed were West Aurora HS, East Aurora HS, Rosary HS, the Aurora YMCA, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and the West Aurora Plaza. He was a member of the Aurora Country Club, and the Aurora Barnstormers Club. He previously served on the Board of Directors for Mercy Center Hospital and the Greater Aurora Chamber of Commerce. He also served as an Officer in the National Guard, and was stationed at Camp Cooke in California in the early 1950s. He was an avid and accomplished golfer, who among many other achievements, recorded 6 holes-in-one in his lifetime. He also enjoyed flying model airplanes, mowing his lawn, and spending time with family and friends, both in Aurora and in Ft. Myers, FL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna (Knox) Lies of Aurora, IL; his children Linda (Timothy) Mannix of Wheaton, A. Thomas (Phyllis) Lies of Downers Grove, Mary Kay (Michael) Hanigan of Evanston, and Joseph J. Lies of Sugar Grove; grandchildren Julia and Victoria Lies of Downers Grove, and Michael and Marie Mannix of Wheaton; his sister Lois Ralph of Scottsdale, AZ; his sister-in-law Lynn C. Lies of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold N. and Marie (Frisch) Lies, and his brother John M. Lies. Funeral Mass will be offered at Holy Angels Church on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 12:00pm. Fr. Michael Lavin will officiate with interment at Marywood Cemetery. Walch, 92, of Plainview, died Saturday (Oct. 8, 1988) at the River Valley Health Care Center, Wabasha, Minn., where he had been a resident the past year. He was born on June 11, 1896, in Winona County to Nick and Madeline Erpelding Walch. He attended country school in Mount Vernon Township, Winona County. He married Della Schneider in 1917 in Plainview; she died in 1924. He later married Lillian Neeb in Winona on June 11, 1929. They farmed for a number of years on Oak Ridge and then moved to Altura, Minn., in 1934. He then worked as an independent trucker. In 1942, they moved to Plainview where he was employed by the Lakeside Packing Co.
