Dies in Hospital Three Days After Crash

Bernard J. Michels, 68, of 823 Lehnertz av., Aurora, a vice president of the Aurora National Bank, died yesterday in Mc-Henry hospital, McHenry, of injuries suffered in an auto accident Tuesday.
Police said his car hit a tree after going out of control on Illinois highway 31, four miles north of McHenry.
Michels was co-owner of both the Michels-Harral Coal company and the Michels Lumber company in Aurora. He leaves his widow, Marie Kay; four sons, Robert, Arthur, Bernard Jr., and James; a daughter, Mrs. Anne Marie Avram; 28 grandchildren; and three sisters.

20542 Caroline D. Gaworski, 91, of Aurora passed away Friday, January 25, 2002 at Countryside Health Center. She was born June 25, 1910 in Aurora, Illinois.
Caroline was a life long resident of the Aurora and Naperville area. She was a past officer and member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality and a member of the St. Anne and St. Joachin Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ann Gaworski of Naperville and Mary Houlne of Aurora; four grandchildren Thomas (Mary) Weis, Jr., Capt. Michael (Carol) Weis and Aimee Houlne; six great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kariana, Ashley, Joseph, Terra and Thomas; a sister Cecilia Kuhn and a brother Nicolas Modaff both of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur "Bill" Gaworski; her parents Peter and Dora (nee Frisch) Modaff; a son Louis L. Gaworski; two brothers Bernard Modaff and Peter Modaff in infancy; two sisters Lillian Landorf and Agnes Theis.
Funeral from THE DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY Monday, January 28, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Therese Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Joseph T. Muller, M.S.N. will officiate with internment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Cecilia A. Jungels Konen passed away on October 28, 2009. She was born October 5, 1910 in Eola, IL to Fred and Celestie Gering Augsburg. On October 7, 1928, she married Peter A. Jungels who died on September 11, 1959. On November 15, 1962 she married Anthony P. Konen who died on June 4, 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Dolores (Dean) Dunn, North Aurora; a son, Jerry (Teresa) Jungels, Warsaw, IN; a stepson, Vince (Shirley) Konen, Scottsdale, AZ; a stepdaughter, Marilyn (Ron) Nickels, Aurora; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Peter G. Jungels and his wife Mary Lou Jungels; a daughter-in-law, Patricia M. Jungels; a sister, Bernadine Augsburg Matter; a brother, Alfred Augsburg; two step daughters, Donna Konen Muehlfelt and Audrey Konen Kayzer; three stepsons, Vern Konen, Jim Konen and Tony Konen Jr; a granddaughter, Deborah Dunn; a grandson Peter Jungels. She was an honorary Member in the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus, a member in the Friendly Center Club and a former member in the Annunciation Church Sodality. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2009 from The Daleiden Mortuary at 9:30 AM to Annunciation Church at 10:00 AM. Fr. George Glover, O.S.B. will officiate with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Aurora. Cecilia S. (Modaff) Kuhn, 86, a lifelong resident of Naperville, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. She was born March 28, 1916, in Naperville.
She grew up on the family farm at the southwest corner of Modaff Road and 75th Street. She attended SS Peter and Paul School and Naperville Community High School. She married Jim Kuhn of Naperville on June 24, 1939. Together they farmed on the land that is now Nike Park and later on land now occupied by the Brush Hill and Wil-O-Way developments. She always kept large vegetable and flower gardens. She will be remembered for the bouquets of fresh flowers that always graced her table and the tables of her friends. She enjoyed making gifts of flower arrangements and vegetable baskets.
She is survived by two sons, Mike (wife Rosie) Kuhn of Naperville and Thomas (wife Marianne) Kuhn of Naperville; a daughter, Kay (husband Pat) LaJeunesse of Naperville; six grandchildren, Andy and Christie Kuhn of Naperville, Carolyn and Lauren Kuhn of Naperville, Katie (husband Tim) Mroczak of Lake Villa and Jay LaJeunesse of Naperville; a brother, Nick Modaff of Naperville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Peter Kuhn; a granddaughter, Donna Kuhn; two brothers, Bernard and Peter Modaff; three sisters, Agnes Theis, Caroline Gaworski and Lillian Landorf; and her parents, Peter and Dora Modaff.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the funeral home and proceed to a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment will take place at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.
