21240 | Donna M. Lies, 85, of Aurora, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday October 19th, surrounded by family and loved ones. Donna was born February 16th, 1931 in Geneva, IL. She grew up in Crystal Lake, and moved to Aurora in her adolescence. She graduated from Madonna High School in 1948, and married Arnold E. Lies, Jr. on September 19th, 1953. They made their home in Aurora and raised 4 children. She remained a very proud Auroran for the rest of her life, often referring to it as the "garden spot". In her younger years, Donna was involved with Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Holy Angels St. Anne's Society. She had a fondness for and was a benefactor to Wayside Cross, Visiting Nurses Association, McAuley Manor, the Aurora Historical Society and many other local organizations. She was a loyal Parishioner of Holy Angels Church for over 60 years, and was exceedingly proud of her Irish heritage. She enjoyed spending time with her husband in Florida, and had a special fondness for the years they spent at the Bay Hill Club. Above all else, she was a devoted Mother and Grandmother to her loving children and grandchildren. Donna is survived by her children Linda (Tim) Mannix of Wheaton, A. Thomas (Phyllis) Lies of Downers Grove, Mary Kay (Michael) Hanigan of Evanston, and Joseph J. Lies of Sugar Grove; grandchildren Michael and Marie Mannix, and Julia and Victoria Lies; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnie, her parents James and Loretta Lacey, and her sister Patricia Byrne. Donna was blessed to the end with a razor-sharp wit, an unrelenting love of a good laugh, and amazing spirit and strength. She was an inspiration to those around her. The family would like to give special thanks to Donna's caregivers Amy Murphy and Marzena 'Maggie' Rajca. Their compassionate care was a blessing to Donna and her family. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 9:30 am at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY to Holy Angels Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Marywood Cemetery. | LACEY, Donna M. (I43504)
